Sole Traders & Landlords

From April 2026 all Sole Traders and Landlords who had a turnover of £50,000 or more for the tax year 24/25 will have to register and comply with the new MTD regulations.

This means quarterly submissions via MTD compatiable software and an end of year declaration submission.

Its the same tax with a new twist (and more to do!)

What do you need?

From April you will need to be using software (correctly), ensuring your bookkeeping is up to date and ready for the quarterly submissions to HMRC.

There will be 4 submissions a year and then one annual declaration of final figures .

Even if this won't affect you this year, it's worth nothing that the threshold for Making Tax Digital is set to lower to £30,000 next year and will be lowered each year to include the majority of Sole Traders and Landlords
